GENERAL BOOKS

The AdSense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense
by Joel Comm

An Exceptionally Good Book On Generating Revenue Using Google Adsense
Amazon Reviewer

This book is a concise guide on how to make money online using Google Adsense. It cuts to the chase and tells you what to do, how to do it and when to do it.

I applied the information in The Adsense Code and began making money (albeit not a lot) the very first day I added adsense to my blog. But, by continuing to apply the tactics laid out in the book, my adsense revenue has increased virtually every day.

The book lays out in a very specific and detailed manner what you need to do to implement Google adsense, how to maximize click throughs and how to set up adsense to generate the most revenue.

This book is great for beginners or advanced users of adsense. Joel explains many ways to use adsense and places to include adsense that I'd never considered.

An added bonus is that the book also gives you many new ideas for generating new traffic to your blog or website.

This book is a must for every serious internet marketers bookshelf.

Working From Home - Top 50 Opportunities 2006
The long running business magazine, The BOARD, is an excellent resource for checking out the latest opportunities. Since they started back in 1993 they have investigated more than one thousand home business opportunities and weeded out the scams, the no-hopers and the pies in the sky. Helped by feedback from their members, they have identified those which are genuine home business opportunities with a reasonable chance of earning a fair income and now they've put all this information into the latest issue of their unique research directory entitled "Working From Home - Top 50 Opportunities 2006". Visit our publications page for further details, including an exclusive money saving offer.

I was recommended this book at a seminar by probably the British Number 1 in Internet Marketing, Michael Green. He said that The E-Myth Revisited should be required reading for anyone thinking about starting a business or who have already taken that step, nd I have to agree with him. It is particularly relevant in online marketing even though that wasn't the original target market. The title refers to the author's belief that entrepreneurs, typically brimming with good but distracting ideas, make poor business people. He establishes an incredibly organised and regimented plan, so that daily details are scripted, freeing the entrepreneur's mind to build the long-term success or failure of the business. Reading the reviews on Amazon, it's clear we're not the only ones who think this book is a "must read"

Fully revised, The "Which?" Guide to Working from Home explores the potential and pitfalls of working from home. Whether you have decided to set up a consultancy, are making and selling craft items from home or e-working, it shows how to develop your skills, network effectively and use professional marketing techniques. The book is also packed with practical advice on setting up and equipping your business, and dealing with red tape. It includes case histories and a directory of useful websites and addresses.

Start Your Own Home-based Business is a reference for all budding entrepreneurs. Divided into two parts, part A takes you through everything you need to consider before starting a home-based business - from requirements for success, through drawing up a business plan and cash flow forecast, to matters such as marketing, financial planning and credit control. Practical, detailed advice is given, with contacts for further information. Part B of the book contains concise profiles of over 50 different home-based business opportunities that could be started. Some of these require specific skills, training or experience (e.g. book-keeping, website design), while others are open to almost anybody (e.g. window cleaning, house-sitting). Each profile includes concise answers to the following six questions: what the work entails; what you need to get started; who your customers will be?; how much you can make; how to sell your services; where you can get more help?

Lloyds TSB Small Business Guide is a financial advisor, tax adviser, management consultant and property agent rolled into one. Now in its 16th edition, the book has been expanded to include information on selling goods and services online, together with the latest information on the UK economy and small business tax regulations. Divided into 31 chapters, the Small Business Guide covers most of the issues you'll face in the first years of running a business, from setting up partnerships to finding offices and staff, filing taxes and dealing with customers. Each chapter has a series of exercises to help you apply the information to your own situation, and also includes links to other relevant sections of the book. The book also clearly states when specialist advice will be needed.
