NEWSLETTER ARCHIVES
JANUARY 2003
1. News
Happy New Year and Welcome to the latest issue of the Homeworking Ideas newsletter,
the monthly publication which will give you all the latest news from the UK on ways
of earning money from home. I hope you are feeling rested and not too far in debt after
the holiday period.
As January is traditionally the time of year for making resolutions,
I thought I'd start this year off with a few ideas to inspire. First off, I've finally
completed a new page for the site on Motivation. You'll find ideas and resources to boost
your self-esteem, tackle depression and get motivated to start the new year on a
positive note; whether you're simply feeling sluggish after the excesses of the holiday
period, or lacking in belief in your own abilities to tackle anything more demanding
than envelope stuffing. You'll find the page at
http://www.homeworkinguk.com/motivation.htm
Next, a topical business idea. One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to
lose weight, so why not capitalise on this by joining up with one of the many business
opportunities promoting weight loss products and other health supplements? For a few
ideas take a look at our health pages at http://www.homeworkinguk.com/health.htm but
in particular Formor seems worth a look, with their pH Factor Weight-Management System
which is a total program of education, diet, exercise and supplementation. Apparently,
healthy people are slightly alkaline but sick and unhealthy people are linked
to acidic body environments which can explain why some people don't succeed in
losing the fat and the inches they are trying to lose. The pH Factor helps
understand why you have no energy, lack stamina, and in general, just don’t feel good.
Teleworking / home workers day
If you're anywhere near Swindon this month try to get along to the University of
Bath on 21 January, 10am - 3pm, where M4 Business Resource is holding a one-day event
offering support to teleworkers in the area with a free exhibition and seminars.
Existing and prospective home workers are invited to attend. Seminars focusing on specific
aspects of working from home will run alongside an exhibition room where agencies
and organisations including the Telework Association, Business Link Berkshire & Wiltshire,
Inland Revenue and the Health and Safety Executive will be offering advice and guidance.
M4BR is a partnership venture between the University of Bath and Swindon Borough Council.
Its set-up costs were funded by the redeployment of TEC funds for the benefit of the
local community and businesses and it is now the most comprehensive resource
for business information in Wiltshire, with a team of professional information
specialists to help the user.

Reporting UK Scams
If you've been the victim of a homeworking scam or even simply received an offer
you don't think is above board, it is now easier to report the company online.
The DTI have now set up a new website at http://www.ripofftipoff.net where you can
register schemes that you think may be scams (anonymously if you prefer) and also get
information on typical scams and bogus schemes, such as Cowboy builders,
unscrupulous doorstep traders, counterfeit product sellers/manufacturers,
loan sharks, bogus homeworking schemes, bogus competitions and online e-cons.
2. Featured Advice
Each month I try to give some pointers in this Newsletter about how to earn a part,
or full time living on the Internet. There's no easy or quick answer. But I get asked
the question so many times that this month I'm reprinting an article I read
last month in the Newbie Club newsletter which neatly sums up the situation.
If you're not already a subscriber I'd thoroughly recommend you
visit their site now at http://newbieclub.com/?help_for_beginners for their extraordinary range of Free Tutorials, Newbie Books, Articles, email courses, Newbie Software and links to the best Internet and Computer learning Resources on the Web.
The question asked is something I receive almost daily. And the truth is that
there is NOT a quick-fix-make-a-million- overnight solution. But it can be done -
if you're prepared to put in some effort, a little cash, and time! Here goes ...
-------
Hi Joe,
Sorry to bother you, but my head is spinning. I've read so much stuff about how people
can make money on the Internet, I just don't know where to start. Who do I trust?
Well I trust you Joe, and I'm hoping you can give me a pointer in the right direction.
Is that possible?
Alex.
-------
Here's what I wrote to Alex ...
-------
Alex. If you're looking for an instant overnight money making system you've asked the
wrong man. But I'm taking the time to answer you because I sense that you realize
there is no quick-and-easy path to riches. I would recommend you start by selling
other people's products by becoming an affiliate of several *good* programs. Programs
you feel comfortable with, and people you can trust. But despite what you may have read,
it's not an overnight success thing. Like any other business - online and off -
it needs planning, study, and time. And above all it needs effort. How do I know? ...
After 4 years on the Internet I now own several successful Internet businesses,
through a very successful Affiliate Program of my own with over 11,000 Affiliates.
And consult with start up and Dotcom companies on marketing, Affiliate marketing,
and Sales Copywriting. But it didn't happen overnight. It took painstaking trial and
error, and hard work.
So take some time out and browse around my Newbie Affiliate Directory at
http://newbieclub.com/tncdir/?help_for_beginners
There are thousands of Affiliate Programs in there. Be selective with the products
you choose, and then sign up for them. And while you're there, get yourself a free
duplicate directory and send people there yourself. It's a brilliant concept and
easy to run. Grab some of the free ebooks from the Newbie Club Acadamy at
http://newbieclub.com/academy/?help_for_beginners .
You can also buy the resell rights to a whole bunch of Software products for less than
$40 and resell them individually for an excellent profit - or use them yourself -
at http://www.free-software-forever.com/sales/sale-90932002.htm
Included in your $39 membership is over a hundred quality ebooks which you can
give away as free bonuses with your software. Visit Allan Gardyne's site at
http://associateprograms.com
and click through to his many tutorials on the Do's and Don'ts of earning from affiliate
programs. Allan is the Guru on this subject. Get yourself Ken Evoy's free autoresponder
course on earning from affiliate programs. Just click this link (or type it
into a blank email), and get started ... tamswebsuccessstory@sitesell.net
If you join his Affiliate Program you'll get a brilliant and informative
free ebook which will help you enormously to succeed in any affiliate program.
You can join here ...http://affiliates.sitesell.com/websuccessstory.html.
Ken's courses are recognized as the best on the Net.
There comes a time. Alex, when you have to bite the bullet and invest in your
education. There are books and courses on just about any subject you can think of.
Unfortunately, many of the so-called 'Marketing Gurus' are churning out the same
stuff in different formats. So you need to be careful. However, even though it's
not cheap, I would strongly recommend you look at Jim Daniels' Membership site called
'Making a Living Online'. You get a printed book (I have mine in front of me now) and
access to an amazing amount of advice, tutorials, resources etc. In short, Jim tells you
*how* he became successful and shows you the steps he took, as well as the winning
strategies he still uses. Read his description right here, but be prepared for about
5 pages of explanation. He has a lot to say, but he *is* a very honest and successful
marketer with 5 years experience on the Net! http://tncinfo.com/malo.htm
You'll also learn a lot by 'lurking' in Neil Shearing's Affiliate Forum -
called the "Internet Success Forum" at http://www.scamfreezone.com/t.cgi?a=134676&e=/forum/ You'll see what other affiliates have to say, and you can
ask for help on specific questions you may have.
Chuck McCullough's excellent book called Affiliate Mistakes is absolutely ideal
for newbie affiliates. Read about that at http://newbieclub.com/affmistakes.
Alex, I could go on forever, but *you* have to put in the time and effort and find
your own niche. But I believe the pointers I have given you will set you on the right
path. Everything I have recommended has been tried out myself. I would recommend you
take the same course yourself when it's your turn to help others.
My very best wishes,
Joe.
3. Featured Biz opp
If you're beginning to despair of ever finding a business that actually works,
this month I've got an inspirational report from Del Chambers who has tried dozens
of business opportunities with little success but has finally found one that works
for him. Here's what he has to say about Virtual World Direct.
Virtual World Direct e-Lottery has been around since April 2002 and has been
going from strength to strength. Everyone that joins Virtual World Direct have a
minimum of 88 chances per week to win the National Lottery. (This goes up if you recruit
15 people or more I now have 176 chances per week in the Lotto)
Virtual World Direct places members in a syndicate with 48 other people and because
VWD guarantee the 6th number using a unique system your odds of winning a price
on the lottery are reduced to just 1 in 13. The unique lotto system also means
you can win a price for matching just two main draw numbers or 44 Lotto cash prizes for
just matching 3 syndicate numbers. Eg: On 28th August 2002 one lucky syndicate won
£139,380 for matching Four Main Numbers + Bonus Ball and on 16th November another
syndicate won £11,480 for matching just 4 numbers. Just stop for a minute and
compare that to playing on your own and matching 4 numbers there is simply no contest.
e-Lottery also enables people in other countries to play the UK lotto which
is the largest Tax Free lotto in the world without having to buy a ticket.
(One of my downlines is in Germany and has already started building his team over there)
Since joining VWD about 3 months ago I have won more prices on the UK Lotto
than I ever did playing solo. One reason is because everyone knows that syndicates
have a much better chance and in fact the majority of major wins have been won by
syndicates.
On top of that this VWD is the first business opportunity that I have had any real
success with since getting involved in the Home Business Opportunity market 8 year ago.
Until I joined VWD I considered myself one of the thousands of MLM failures..
Needless to say I have now given up all my other business opportunities as they
were not making money and am concentrating all my resources on VWD
One of the reasons: I normally find it very hard to ask people to join me
in any kind of business opportunity is because I know deep down that most people
are not interested in the products involved (eg: Pills and Potions, Health Products etc)
so I can't get enthusiastic. However VWD is different and I have had no
problems in asking people to join me in one of the lotto syndicates because
most people already play the lotto and they'll receive much better odds of winning.
I even asked my Mum to sign up and she has had a few small wins. I don't give people
lots of hype of mega-earnings, because no-one believes that, but once
people have signed up I simply mention that if they recommend a friend or two
they will start making money and even play for free.
VWD pay 20% commission for everyone that signs up directly under you and
there are commissions to be earned if your members introduce people.
It really is that simple. The rewards program offers many other incentives
for encouraging people to join this excellent business opportunity. For example
if you recruit 15 people you will not only be playing for free and earning each
month but you will also get a further 88 chances per week in the lotto
If you are interested in joining then please visit www.playthelotto.co.uk
and you could be sharing my success with the National Lotto and even signing people up.
It's so easy I signed up 8 people over Christmas alone - the automatic computer system
never closed. But don't worry if you haven't got a computer - call me on 020 8922 3072
for an application form. You can join on paper yourself, but take advantage of
VWD's computer system to enrol your prospects whether you have a PC or not!

A new network has been launched, aiming to offer complete support and information for
Virtual Assistants contemplating or starting out in the VA industry.
The Virtual Assistant Network came into existence when founder Melanie Trudgett, realised
that there wasn’t an obvious source of information for up and coming virtual
assistants in the UK. She also realised that many businesses weren’t aware of the
services that a virtual assistant provides. The network offers useful information for
businesses researching the possibilities of outsourcing work to freelance workers.
Melanie says” Those wanting to start out in the business didn’t know where to
turn for advice. Businesses also needed educating that we are out there and can provide
a professional and reliable service.
”By joining the VA Network members will benefit by, receiving a fortnightly e-newsletter
containing marketing and PR advice, articles, business ideas, and starting out information.
Also on offer is a forum for new and experienced virtual assistants to post questions
and answers and a barter exchange market where virtual assistants can exchange services.
The network also offers opportunities for networking and advertising to other VA members.
Other benefits include website advice, free e-books, access to the VA network database,
and a useful links page.
“The aim of the VA Network” says Melanie, “is to build a VA community that is
supportive rather than competitive” . The VA network was founded in December 2002
and is subscription based with a subscription fee of £25.00 a year, You'll find
the site at www.freelancepa.co.uk
or to receive the first newsletter as a no obligation sample, send an email to
newsletter@freelancepa.co.uk with 'Sample' in the subject line.
5. Featured Freebie
This month's freebie has absolutely nothing to do with work but is a great fun site
with the chance to get free gifts just by visiting regularly. Even the most occasional
TV viewer is almost certainly familiar with Douglas the trombone playing butterman,
who features in the Lurpak butter ads. Well now he's got his own website, packed full of
entertainment for the whole family - fun, facts, competitions, instant scratchcard
prizes, downloads (including games and a selection of the best Lurpak TV ads),
etc! You can even buy some great Douglas gifts.
To encourage you to visit the site points can be earned, which are exchangeable for
a range of promotional gifts. You get 200 to sign up and every week you visit
you get 50 Points. The more weeks you visit, the more Points you'll get. As an added
bonus if you visit four different weeks in one month you get an extra 100 points
plus every time one of your recommended friends signs up, you get another 50 Points.
When I last visited the site you could exchange 500 points for a tea towel,
900 points for socks and 1300 points for an apron. Just send me an e-mail
to lurpak@homeworkinguk.com with your
name and e-mail address and I'll send you an invite.
I hope you've found something of interest this month. Next month's newsletter
may be slightly delayed as I am due to give birth around 13 February. I may also
take a little longer than usual to respond to correspondence so please be patient.
