Welcome to the latest issue of the Homeworking Ideas newsletter, the monthly publication which gives you all the latest news from the UK on ways of earning money from home.

Get Paid To Surf - New Surfbar
So often businesses in pre-launch never live up to expectation and I'm generally reluctant to recommend anything until after launch. This month however I'm making an exception, and not just because when it does launch, this is likely to be so big that it's worth risking a little time and effort early on.

Way back in 1998, an eternity in internet terms, a company called AllAdvantage came up with the revolutionary idea of sharing advertising revenue with the viewers with the theory that creating a huge viewer base will attract more advertising. Whilst in pre-launch I just slapped a couple of banners up on the site and forgot all about it. In 1999 the business subsequently released a small viewbar downloaded by members which showed ads in the corner of your monitor, and paid you, if memory serves me right, around 20 cents for every hour you had the bar open, and a few cents for every hour surfed by anyone you referred. Almost from the start I was receiving cheques for over £100 a month (and remember this is pre flat rate internet access), at the time my most successful online venture, but unfortunately the subsequent dotcom crash meant this company only lasted for about a year, although they still managed to pay all outstanding commission.

Now, from the ashes of AllAdvantage comes AGLOCO. This time, some of the original AllAdvantage founders have joined with Stanford MBA's and are doing things differently to avoid making the same mistakes as in the past. The new viewbar will not be paying a flat fee per hour anymore, but will give you a share of income the viewbar earns, and will offer a load of security features.

The Viewbar software is currently in closed beta testing (no one is accumulating hours with the beta software) with plans to release next month. After thorough testing and necessary improvements, it will be released to AGLOCO Members on a first come first serve basis, according to the date you signed up to be an AGLOCO Member so the sooner you sign up, the earlier you will be able to download the Viewbar and start accumulating online hours.

If you haven't already signed up for this one, I really would recommend taking a look. It costs nothing to join and could be really big. You can find out more from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/agloco.htm

Target your ads in front of millions!

New Advertising Network
If you've tried using Google Adwords for pay per click advertising, and Google Adsense to generate an income from a website you may have noticed the balance of power is very much in Google's favour - you can't use your earnings to fund your advertising, you can be excluded without warning, advertising rates can go through the roof overnight, and you're competing against millions of other advertisers, not to mention problems of click fraud.

Fair Ads Network is a new network that has just launched and aims to tackle these problems. They are only accepting a limited number of members to prevent saturation, and they make it easy for you to transfer your funds back and forth between advertiser and publisher accounts. Each click counts only once per 12 hour session, per ad, even if clicked repeatedly by the same visitor, so your investment won't be wasted

Sold, dispatch now
With so much media talk about eBay, it can be easy to forget that there are other ways to sell secondhand goods online. Amazon in particular offers a marketplace where you can sell anything that currently exists in their extensive catalogue. As there are no listing fees, and items stay until you make a sale, it can be a great alternative for clearing out your cupboards and bookshelves.

However, if you know what you're doing, you can easily generate a more substantial income, acquiring items cheaply specifically to sell through the Marketplace. Sharon Fussell does that, and now earns around £15,000 a year working around 2 hours a day. Now she's written about her experiences and explains how she does it. This new guide includes information on such matters as which are the best books to buy (or avoid) and where to find them, plus how to get the best price and make sure you make the biggest possible profit on each sale. Get more details from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/marketplace.htm . As usual there's a no strings money back guarantee. You've got 30 days to try it out risk-free.

3. Featured Business Resource

Affiliate Shield
Whilst affiliate marketing can be an extremely effective way of generating an income online, it isn't without its problems, particularly if you're spending money generating visitors. Affiliate Shield is a new product that solves most of the problems that can arise, such as:

Affiliate links - The reality is people either just don't trust affiliate links, and will go direct to the vendors own site or will not think twice about swapping your affiliate ID with theirs so that they get paid the commission instead of you. Affiliate Shield cloaks your links so they don't look like an affiliate link

Unreliable Vendors - While you may put in a lot of time and effort promoting a product, this doesn't stop vendors simply closing up shop or switching to another payment processor (or affiliate network) without ever telling you, and of course, sites go down without warning. When Affiliate Shield detects that the vendor's site is down or if the vendor has switched to another payment processor, it automatically alerts you via email and automatically switches over to your backup link

Landing Pages - The vendor will often only provide one page for you to link to, which isn't necessarily the most appropriate page for generating sales. In some cases the sales page is so awful you'd rather write your own and then go straight to the payment page. With Affiliate Shield you can link to any page, even direct to the payment page, if you prefer.

Despite providing 24 hour monitoring, this software is not only available for a small one off payment, with no monthly fees, but it even includes free life-time product upgrades! Further details are available from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/affiliateshield.htm

4. Featured Freebies

Free Web Storage
We all know how important it is to back up files regularly, but it can all seem to be a bit of a hassle, copying to discs and then putting the discs somewhere safe where they won't get damaged or lost. Well now there is a free solution. Diino are offering a 2MB online secure backup service, so no hunting around for blank discs and no risk of loss. You can access your files anywhere, so it's also ideal for files you want to share. Get full details now from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/backup.htm

Free Keyword Suggestion Tool
Whether you're looking to take advantage of pay per click advertising or simply want to optimise a website, finding the best keywords can be vital. This month sees the launch of a new free tool that will not only generate up to 100 related keywords for your starting keyword, but you also get an estimate of their daily search volume. Check it out at http://www.homeworkinguk.com/wordtracker.htm

Social Bookmarking Tool
You can't have failed to hear about the impact of Social Networking on the internet, with sites like MySpace andYouTube grabbing all the headlines with millions of hits every day. A less publicised but equally important sector is that of social bookmarking where you share your favourite sites with other members. Probably the best well known is del.icio.us. The process of saving a bookmark is simple. You just add a tiny button to your browser toolbar and, whenever you’re on a site you want to bookmark, click the button and it will be automatically added to your bookmark account. Once your bookmarks are saved you can share them in a variety of ways, either with specific people or by "tagging" them into a specific category . There’s a search feature that pulls in results from everyone’s bookmarks including yours.

Whilst this can be useful for keeping track of your favourite sites, it can also be an excellent way to promote your own site or blog, but with dozens of social bookmarking sites, it can be quite a task posting to them all, each time you add a new entry. This month's recommendation however makes that easy, and it's free. OnlyWire automatically bookmarks 15 social bookmark sites. Just add the link to your toolbar, and each time you have a new blog entry or website page to promote you just need to click on the link to enter tags and comments. You'll find OnlyWire at http://www.onlywire.com/ . For further details on social bookmarking and how it works, you can download a special report from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/socialbookmark.htm

I hope you've found something of interest this month. I'll speak to you again next month.
