1. News
Welcome to the latest issue of the Homeworking Ideas newsletter, the monthly
publication which gives you all the latest news from the UK on ways of earning money from home.
Ecards Warning
First of all, here's a warning about a recent spate of ecard scams. Whilst nothing new, since June I've been flooded with a new wave of scam ecards and postcards. They typically start with a subject line telling you that you've received a postcard from a neighbor/friend/classmate/family member etc rather than a named person and invite you to click on a link to view your card.
Once you click on the link, you'll find you're on a site that tries to trick you into downloading a variant of the Storm
Trojan, 'an aggressive piece of malware that has been hijacking computers to serve as attacker bots' since earlier in the
year." See http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp
If your computer is hijacked to serve as a "bot," it becomes in effect a "sleeper cell" awaiting orders from its boss to attack other individual computers or networks, unlike a virus which behaves independently, and can't be remotely controlled once it's installed.
This particular scam only works on a PC, rather than a Mac, and then only if you don't download the regular security
patches from Microsoft as it exploits known vulnerabilities. Visit
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ if your computer isn't set to automatically do this.
Similarly you should install antivirus software and ensure it is also updated regularly. You might also like to use
Firefox as many e-mail scams use loopholes in Internet Explorer, so Firefox is far more secure against this type of scam.
Luckily Google has recently updated their Google Pack to include not only Firefox, but also Symantec's Norton Security
Scan, which detects and removes viruses, and PC Tools' Spyware Doctor Starter Edition, a top-rated anti-spyware
utility. Both are free and include automatic protection updates with no paid subscription required. Download your
Google Pack from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/downloads.htm
Survey Requests
OpinionWorld offers the chance to take part in interesting surveys and opinion polls. Each time that you take part you have the chance of winning prizes and support charities. Every time that you take part in a survey some money is set aside for a charity; the actual amount depends on the size of the questionnaire. The greater the number of people who take part, the more money donated. Charities include WWF, Amnesty International, Unicef and Barnardos - just state at the end of the survey which charity you wish to support.
They are currently particularly in need of males aged 14-25 and are offering the chance for all new members to win a new PS3. If this
is you, or you know anyone who fits this criteria visit http://www.homeworkinguk.com/ow14.htm.
All other new members can join at http://www.homeworkinguk.com/ow.htm
Don't forget to visit http://www.homeworkinguk.com/surveys.htm for more survey sites.
Adbux Update
A few months ago I wrote to you about a new "paid to click" website that was generating a lot of interest, and a lot of activity. Well since
then I'm pleased to report that the site continues to go from strength to strength. After a quiet few weeks while they
were revamping the site, it has suddenly taken off and there are now generally over a 100 sites a day to visit. You don't
even have to keep visiting the site to check for ads as they offer an "ad alert" button which announces new ads as soon
as they appear. I'm easily getting 10-20 paid ads a day and would get more if I was online more regularly. If you're a
lapsed member I'd recommend you take another look and if you haven't yet joined I'd recommend you check it out. Visit
http://www.homeworkinguk.com/adbux.htm for full details.
2. Featured Updates

Article Writing
Helium Marketplace
It's clearly the time of year for revamps as 2 more established sites have had a recent overhaul. The first of these newly
revamped sites worth another look is Helium, the article site that pays you for answers you give to questions posed by other
members, or articles you write. Well now they've launched Helium Marketplace where brand-name publishers post the titles
they need freelance writers for. Publishers are paying at least $16 per article, with some paying $50 – and others going
as high as $170. You just need to check through the publishers and the posted article titles, read their guidelines and
write your quality article. Don’t forget that even if your article is not chosen by one of the publishers, it stays
as part of your Helium portfolio, earning you an income each time somebody reads it. For full details go to
http://www.homeworkinguk.com/helium.htm

Matrixmails
The second site is Matrixmails, a long established paid e-mail site (around since 2002, always paying a minimum of 1 cent
per mail and has paid out over half a million dollars) that has just expanded into the article writing sector. They are
looking for any article written on any subject from the categories listed on the site (currently online gaming and web
hosting), and are paying $3 - $30 per article, minimum 500 words.
The range of income opportunities from this site include:
- Get paid to read emails.
- Get paid to sign up offers.
- Get paid to click and visit sites.
- Get paid to play games. (new)
- Get paid to write. (new)
- Get paid to search the Internet. (new)
- Get paid to refer other people up to 6 Levels: (1st level 20%, 2nd level 10%, 3rd level 8%, 4th level 6%, 5th level 4%, 6th level 2%)
- Not only one time bonus but lifetime bonuses according to your personal earnings:
$0.20 bonus for every $2.00 personal clickthru
$1.00 bonus for every $4.00 personal clickthru
Payments via Paypal, E-gold or Stormpay. Only $2 payout limit!
Matrixmails' Gold and Silver memberships are also highly recommended (upgrades are of course optional). They are full of features and even come with a money-back guarantee. I personally upgraded to Gold membership and had earned over $200 from this site even before the new features were introduced.
Visit http://www.homeworkinguk.com/matrixmail.htm for full details including the article writing guidelines

Free books, games, CDs and DVDs
A few months ago I mentioned a new site that gives you the chance to swap your unwanted DVDs etc. for no more than the cost of postage. Just list the items you want to get rid of, and earn credits towards the items you want. I've been testing the site and have been pleasantly surprised how active it is, with DVDs I list getting snapped up within a day or two. To get you started they're offering you a free dvd, book, cd or game just for signing up, and this month only they'll even add cash to your account just for listing items. List 10 items you want to swap and you'll get £1 in your account immediately - no waiting for your items to be requested. List 25 and you'll get £3 or list 100 and they'll add £15.
You can get full details from http://www.homeworkinguk.com/hitflip.html
I hope you've found something of interest this month. I'll speak to you again next month.
